Lemon—Kenshi Yonezu

The goal of this project is to create a poster that could represent the chosen words in a connotative way. I decided to work with song lyrics and chose the song Lemon by Kenshi Yonezu. This song was the theme song of the drama Unnatural (2018), which talks about social problems and unnatural deaths.
Japanese characters are very different from Latin Alphabets, I took the approach of having the words aligned vertically. The lyrics “Even now, you’re my light.” describes the search for hope and belief even in a bad situation. The dark background with traces of gold and white liquid paint successfully set the mood for the poster. The other characters with blurred edges blend into the picture. The character “light” (光) was made the biggest and brightest with the white glow effect to create and show importance.
